Last Minute Mother’s Day Gifts
If you’ve been in a whirlwind of homeschooling, back to school, working from home… you may not be organised for Mother’s Day this weekend. Hasn’t it just sneaked up this year? But don’t despair! There are still plenty of options. Grab your skates, shove them on and bag a selection of amazing last minute Mother’s Day gifts to make sure the mummas in your life feel all the love this year.
Lucky Pineapple – cocktail kit
With a flurry of cocktail kits over the past few lockdown months, it’s hard to know where to start. If you’re looking for something super stylish and totally gorgeous, Brighton-based Lucky Pineapple have nailed the cocktail kit. Oh my, these boxes. The styling, the glasses, the flavours, the extras… everything about them is utterly divine. Luckily for you, there’s still time to order the mummy-people in your life a kit for Mother’s Day, as long as you’re quick. Orders close at 8pm this evening (10/3/21).
Founder Hayley says,
Mums are mega babes and they deserve cocktails!
Order before 8pm this evening to gift mama a beautiful Lucky Pineapple cocktail kit in time for Mother’s Day.
From one mega babe to a whole lotta mega babes, couldn’t agree more, Hayley.
I’ll say it once more, order by 8pm tonight for Mother’s Day delivery.
Big Spoon – afternoon tea & tulips
Mother’s Day is usually synonymous with an over the top afternoon tea for us. We usually collect together in a big group of 10+ and spend an afternoon stuffing our faces with scones, cream, jam, cake and sandwiches all washed down with gallons of tea and fizz. Going out for afternoon tea in a big group of mixed households seems like something from a bygone era. But all’s not lost.
Why not recreate afternoon tea at home? Big Spoon have put together scrumptiously indulgent afternoon tea boxes with or without a bunch of tulips so that you don’t have to miss out on the annual treat. The boxes also include Emily’s legendary brownies as standard. And they’re to die for.
Boxes for 2 people include:
2 x plain scones
2 x raspberry jams
2 x clotted creams
2 x macaroons
2 x chocolate chip brownies
2 x pork, bacon and fennel sausage rolls
1 x bunch of tulips (optional extra)
You might not be able to get everyone you’d like to together this year, but you can still set a table with the kids and serve this for mum, or send boxes to the mums you can’t be with.
Big Spoon will be delivering between Brighton and Chichester on Sunday 14th March.
Brambles – Mother’s Day Sunday Roast
Weeks and weeks and weeks of cook, eat, wash up, repeat, has made me feel pretty over cooking. The mere thought of a restaurant-shaped box of goodies landing in my kitchen, being heated up by another adult while I relax somewhere else in the house brings a tear of joy to my eye. Especially a roast cooked by brilliant local chef Michael Norman.
Bring floods of happy tears to the mums who’ve been on breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and lunchbox duty with a slap up roast from Brambles this weekend.
There’s a choice of roasts all cooked in their josper oven, served with potatoes cooked in dripping, glazed seasonal greens & carrots, cauliflower cheese with English truffle oil, smoked leeks and lashings of gravy. Add on sourdough focaccia, homemade butter, pickles and pâté to start and pub classic puddings with vanilla ice cream to finish. Brambles have put together a feast that takes no more than 30 minutes to warm up and serve, and requires very little effort.
Post-roast, tuck mum up under a blanket with headphones in to snooze for the rest of the afternoon. Heaven.
The deadline for placing an order is 8pm on Friday 12th March.
Collection from The New Inn in Hurstpierpoint or The Cloakroom in Brighton on Sunday 14th March.
Cin Cin at Home
As last minute Mother’s Day gifts come, Cin Cin’s home delivery service is high up on my wish list. Cin Cin will be delivering to Sussex postcodes as usual at the end of the week and over the weekend.
They have a selection of finish at home meals: 3- and 5- course meals, tray bakes, sides, puddings and wine galore. If you’re looking for something to share with kids and don’t fancy a roast one of their huge homemade lasagnes (meat or veggie), sides, tiramisu for all the family and a couple of nice bottles of wine would be just the ticket.
Stick on a Disney film for the post-lunch carb slump and kick back with an oversized glass of red while the kids enjoy a movie. Sunday afternoon perfection.
Delivery on Saturday for: Hassocks, Henfield, Hurstpierpoint, Ditchling, Steyning, Horsham, Partridge Green, Billingshurst, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath.
