Hi Steven, I’m absolutely honoured to have you over here on Sussex Born & Fed. Thanks so much for joining me.
etch. is an incredible fine dining restaurant in Hove, boasting a Michellin Plate, 3 AA Rosettes and 5 in the Good Food Guide. All dishes centre around two key ingredients, many of them locally sourced. I visited etch. for the first time last month and our dining experience from the moment we stepped inside was incredible: the food, the staff, the restaurant, the soda flight, the chocolate truffles (the loo 😉…). We were blown away and can’t wait to come back (hopefully very soon). You can read my review here.

1. Sussex food or drink that makes you go 😋?
Beals’ farm charcuterie is amazing. Produced from Sussex-bred Mangalitsa pigs it has a great natural fat content that melts in the mouth.
2. Favourite place to go for coffee in Sussex?
Small Batch on Norfolk Square, I did my first pop-up there and the coffee is lovely.
3. Favourite Sussex pub for a Sunday roast?
The Crabtree in Horsham. It’s a great family run pub with a big garden out the back and great food.
4. Favourite Sussex tipple?
Nyetimber – I think Sussex sparkling wine is delicious and gives champagne a real run for its money. In the restaurant we only serve Sussex sparkling.
5. Favourite Sussex dish or Sussex-inspired recipe?
Sussex has some of the best produce in the UK. My favourite Sussex dish made from only Sussex ingredients would be South Downs lamb served with turnips and turnip leaves. Food that grows together always taste great together also.
6. Banoffee Pie or Sussex Pond Pudding?

Thanks for sharing your Sussex faves with us. What a fab selection. I can’t wait to try out The Crabtree in summer. Their menu and garden look perfect for a lazy weekend afternoon.
You can find etch. on Church Road in Hove, menus change every month and are led by local, seasonal produce. There are 5, 7 and 9 course options with wine and soda flights available. A brand new private dining room has just opened and looks gorgeous. The perfect spot for a special celebration. I’m crossing my fingers for later this year 😉
