Six at 6pm

Six at 6pm with… Katie (hello, it’s me!) from Sussex Born & Fed

So, this evening, I thought it would be fun to do my own Six at 6pm. Partly because I haven’t managed to interview anyone for this week; partly because I reckon you shouldn’t ask any questions that you wouldn’t answer yourself. So for one week only, here I am, the star of my own show: it’ just me, myself and I (yes, it’s weird, I know).

So without further ado here’s my Six at 6pm.

1. Your favourite Sussex food or drink that makes you go 😋?

This is super hard because there are so many delicious foods and drinks produced in Sussex. Maybe all Sussex food makes me go 😋! I adore Katie’s Nuttery Holy Hygge (hazelnut and chocolate) spread and Perfectly Preserved’s salted caramel sauce. I’m a big cheese fan so I’d have to say Alsop & Walker’s Sussex Brie and High Weald Dairy’s Brighton Blue too. Oh yeah, Al The Pieman’s vegan mushroom pies are epic and Bird & Blend Co’s Sticky Chai is just the best. One last mention and that’s Adastra Deli’s Californian Spring Spinach Dip – so morish. Dare you to buy some and not polish off the pot!

2. Favourite place to go for coffee in Sussex?

I have two faves: Pelicano on Sydney Street in Brighton and recent find Lindfield Coffee Works ❤️.

3. Favourite Sussex pub for a Sunday roast?

Who doesn’t love a roast? A salty roast potato is one of my favourite things ever. I’d have to say the Ginger Fox for a pub roast.

4. Favourite Sussex tipple?

I don’t drink 😜! Yep, kept that one quiet till recently didn’t I 😂 So I’d have to say anything from Folkingtons. I love their new sparkling drinks, the rhubarb and apple one is divine; their pink lemonade is an old fave. I also love kombucha: local Selène kombucha is my fave.

5. Favourite Sussex dish or Sussex-inspired recipe?

Sussex cheese on toast. Can’t beat lashings of Sussex charmer on sourdough.  Even better, make it a Sussex Croque Madame with a fried egg from Macs Farm on top 🤤🤤🤤. Brunch of dreams.

6. Banoffee Pie or Sussex Pond Pudding?

I’ve never tried Sussex Pond Pudding (WHAT I hear you shouting! Well, I wasn’t going to lie now was I. I’d love to try one though and fancy turning my hand to making one very soon) so I’d have to say Banoffee Pie. Banana and caramel is a bit of a classic isn’t it 🤤.
